Buddha Bowl

Buddha Bowl is a simple dish made from vegetarian or vegan ingredients, mostly served cold or warm.


The 6 components of the Buddha Bowl contain all the useful nutrients we need to get during a day:

Cereals - rice, quinoa or whole grain products.

Vegetable protein - tofu, legumes ...

Fresh (or baked) vegetables, fruits.

Herbs or sprouts.

Nuts and seeds.

Sauce.

To prepare 2 portions of sweet potatoes and quinoa Buddha Bowl you will need:

 

  • Quinoa   1/3 cup
  • Boiled or canned chick pea ½ cup
  • Sweet potatoes 1 piece
  • Onion 1 piece
  • Arugula ½  bunch 
  • Micro-greens 2 tbs.
  • Pumpkin seeds 1 tbs.
  • For the sauce: 2 tbs. tahini, 1 tbs. honey, ½ lemon juice, 1-2 tbs. water, salt, pepper to taste.
  Boil quinoa. Cut the sweet potatoes into cubes, cut the onion into four. Place the sweet potatoes, onions and chick pea on a baking plate, add a little olive oil, salt, pepper and bake at 200 degrees until the vegetables are browned.


Mix all the ingredients for the sauce, add water to get a desired thickness.Assemble the bowl - divide the quinoa, then baked vegetables, fresh herbs, add the sauce and the pumpkin seeds.

The origin of the Buddha Bowl is unknown

it is said that the dish is associated with Buddhist monks, who used to collect small portions of food among the people as alms.

How to make a Buddha Bowl - there is no exact recipe, you can give the reins to your imagination, the main thing is to follow the principle - we use rice or other grains as a base.

Add vegetable protein such as tofu, boiled beans or chick pea, fresh vegetables and herbs are essential ingredients. Any nuts and seeds that you have at the moment or that you particularly love. You can prepare the Buddha Bowl beforehand and pour the sauce just before eating.
