Chia is one of the trendiest superfood today. It is  interesting what  has it led to such popularity among the followers of healthy eating?
Although many centuries ago chia seeds were one of the main, energy-giving foods of the Mayan tribes and Aztecs, this product has only recently been introduced to the world.

With delay, of course, but chia also came to Georgia and today these magic seeds  have an honorable place in the food routine of many of us.

And yet, what benefits does chia bring? 

 



It is rich in antioxidants. Foods rich in antioxidants protect the body from aging and many diseases, including cancer.

Chia is rich in dietary fiber. 40% of its volume is fiber, which distinguishes it as one of the most useful products on earth. The fiber feeds on friendly bacteria in our gastrointestinal tract and the health of the intestinal flora is essential for general well-being.

Chia is the best source of vegetable albumen  for those who do not eat meat. Generally albumen is considered to be the best macronutrient for weight loss, it reduces appetite, especially in  those who like to have a snack  at night.

Nutritionists believe that chia promotes weight loss - chia absorbs fluid and increases in volume by 10-12 times, which gives us a feeling of fullness for a long time. As a result, the following food serving is  smaller than usual.

Composition and Preparation Method

Chia contains calcium. It is the best source of calcium in the vegan diet. Also due to its high content of phosphorus, magnesium and protein, it can be considered a useful product for bone health.

Chia is a gluten-free whole seeds,  mostly organic and non-genetically modified.

How to use - 2 tablespoons of chia, which is 1 serving, is a daily norm for an adult.

The most effective way to prepare chia seeds is to soak  them in any liquid. When soaked, the chia swells  and the mass becomes jelly-like. It is desirable to soak chia seeds for 1-2 hours or overnight. When we want chia pudding for breakfast, it is desirable to prepare it the night before and store it in the refrigerator.

However, there is one trick to activate chia seeds instantly - you need to pour a few teaspoons of warm water of  maximum 40 degrees to cover the seeds,  stir and in a few seconds the chia will become jelly-like, then add the desired liquid - milk, matsoni,  juice or sweetener or fruit.  The pudding is ready. Here everything depends on your taste, there is no wrong recipe.

Put 1 tablespoon of chia seeds in 1 cup of room temperature water, add lemon juice to taste, in 10-15 minutes the grains will swell and the energetic chia lemonade is ready.
