Lassi is a yogurt-based soft drink with different flavors. The drink originates from North India, but you will find it not only in families, but also in restaurants, cafes, streets across the country. The main ingredient is yogurt, which is mixed with water and various spices, nuts or fruits. There are both sweet and salty lassi. It is traditionally made with wooden spoons, but you may use a metal spatula, blender or even a fork. In India most families make yogurt at home and lassi is made from such yogurts. The list of ingredients and spices is huge, fitted to all tastes. The drinks are mostly sweetened with sugar, although other sweeteners, such as honey, can be used as well.
