One cannot image summer without watermelon. Pieces of cold, refreshing watermelon are a desirable delicacy at any time of the day. Although 90% of watermelon is water, it is quite a useful product, it is rich in antioxidants, activates metabolism and helps to maintain water balance on hot summer days.

Have you ever thought about using watermelon as an ingredient? Lots of delicious drinks, appetizers, salads or desserts can be prepared from it.

You will only need three ingredients to make watermelon daiquiri: watermelon, lime and rum. Freeze 4 cups watermelon cut in cubes beforehand, blend with 1 lime juice and ½ glass of rum. Pour into glasses and daiquiri is ready.    

Pieces of watermelon wrapped in Italian prosciutto are marvelous appetizer for summer parties.

To prepare watermelon and strawberry salad you will need:

  • 200 g. watermelon
  • 100 g. strawberries
  • ½ cucumber
  • 100 g. Feta cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Few leaves of mint
  • Balsamic vinegar sauce

Cut watermelon, strawberry and cucumber into medium-sized cubes. Add salt, grate feta and add to the salad, pour over the oil, vinegar and add the mint leaves.

Watermelon refreshing ice-cream is also easy to prepare. Blend 3 glasses of cut watermelon and ½ lemon juice, fill ¾ of the mold and freeze. After 1 hour, pour the blended kiwi, 1-2 pieces. Freeze until ready, about 4 hours. Rinse it with warm water in order easily remove from the mold.
