Banana bread recipe first appeared in American culinary books in the ‘30s. There is speculation that the popularity of this recipe was due to the low price of overripe bananas during the Great Depression. Every housewife could prepare an easy-to-make fruitcake with the available products. Banana bread, which is actually a fruitcake, is a favorite cake of the Americans. They even celebrate the Banana Bread Day on February 23.
Our version of this fruitcake, which is very tasty, is slightly different from the traditional Banana Bread recipe.
You will need:
Preheat oven to 190 degrees.
Beat eggs and sugar until they turn white.
Mash 2 bananas with a fork.
Add the mashed bananas to the egg mass, stir, then add oil. Mix flour, walnuts, baking powder, salt, condiments in the second bowl and add to the egg mass. Stir, in the end add Matsoni and mix well until homogenous consistency.
Apply butter on the rectangular mold and sprinkle with flour or spread out the baking paper. Pour in the dough and place the bananas cut lengthwise. Bake for 1 hour, check if it is baked with a wooden stick, it should be dry after digging into the cupcake.
