About 500 years ago first coffee shop was opened in Istanbul. Nobody knows how this wild Ethiopian tree fruit appeared in Istanbul, but the story of its European voyage is well-known.
Thanks to a German naturalist coffee first traveled to Italy and Germany, later in France and spread all around the continent. That happened in 1596. So it's not quite accidental to start telling about the methods of making Turkish coffee.
Turkish coffee
Coffee is made directly in the street of Istanbul and Turks love it so much that they have even established a coffee museum.
The secret of the Turkish coffee is quite easy. It's mostly made of Arabica coffee. Sacks of the finest coffee beans are kept in dark, dry places. Turkish coffee specialists grind the beans for several hours and that makes it taste so special.
First, they cover their brazier type of stove with sand and then place "Cezve" – coffeemaker on the heated sand. They throw two teaspoons of ground coffee in the coffeemaker and before adding water, they slightly toast the powder. Next, goes sugar (recommended is only one spoon of it) followed by warm water. The main rule is to never stir the ingredients inside the coffeemaker. If you do not stir, the coffee will get a foam. Skim the foam and place in a cup, then return Cezve on the sand and continue skimming until the cup fills up with the foam. "Hunting for foam" is the golden rule known to all Turks and that's why their coffee doesn't taste like others.
Frankly speaking, Turkish coffee is not very healthy for your body as its granules harm abdominal cavity. It's better to minimize the frequency of having it and always wash down with water.
Espresso
Espresso is a soluble coffee with a solid age. Espresso technology was invented by Italian entrepreneur Luigi Bezzera in 1900. Bezzera was the first person who thought of preparing coffee using steam pressure and filter. It's interesting to know what has inspired him to the experiment, but we'll never know. However, we know that "Espresso" means pressed.
Americano
Those who appreciate strong and bitter coffee aroma must always order Americano. Do not forget to ask for a glass of water as well, as water is an integral part of having Americano. You sip Americano and wash down with water and it neutralizes strong coffee extracts and leaves a pleasant taste on your tongue.
Americano is the same espresso but made with French press machine. If you love espresso, but wish to have its taste staying longer in your mouth, then go for Americano.
Throw coarsely ground beans in your press machine. Add hot water and wait for 2-3 minutes. Then press it. Repeat the action during 15 minutes. If you prefer less strong Americano, then do not leave the liquid long in the cup, as it'll shortly get a bitter taste.
Cappuccino
Cappuccino – definitely sounds like Italian and for a reason - homeland of Cappuccino is Italy. It was invented by Capuchin Friars who used to have coffee only with milk. So, the coffee was named after the Capuchin Order. Once they've noticed that the coffee and milk mixture makes a deliciously creamy consistency on top, they've helped the natural process by adding some actual cream to it. Their technology was refined in the 19th century by Padre Carlo and invented the exact machine, which makes the modern Cappuccino up to now.
If the machine is not available, prepare Cappuccino at home:
Take a cup with 2 teaspoons of ground Arabica coffee in it, add hot water and cover the lid. Mix hot milk in a mixer, or just purchase a pre-cooked cream in any supermarket. Top the coffee with cream foam and cinnamon powder and enjoy.
Mocha
Some espresso (about 60ml), the same amount of liquid chocolate and the boiled milk – that are the Mocha ingredients. If you are a sweet coffee lover, then the Mocha is ideal for you.
Latte
Latte means "full of milk" in translation and it fully fits the name. It only consists of 3% of caffeine, while the rest is all boiled and whipped milk. 300ml of it is boiled milk and only 2ml is whipped which makes the Latte coffee thick and the fattiest among others. If you're watching your calories, then better pass Latte, take something else.
Green coffee
You don't actually need to look in the mirror to feel your extra weight. If you can't zip your pants bought at last Christmas sale that means you've put some extra weight on. It's time to start drinking green coffee!
In order to make the green coffee healthiest possible, you need to follow the rules!
Before throwing two teaspoons of thoroughly ground coffee in a coffee maker you have to first toast the beans. This method neutralizes the distinctly bitter taste of the green coffee. It looks like the same as toasting sunflower seeds. Then grind them, add cold water and set on fire. Stir while boiling and your fitness elixir is ready.
