In the area of North Africa and the Mediterranean Sea, thanks to excavations, they found carrot seeds, which belong to one type of carrot - purple carrot.
According to scientists, at first the carrot was either purple or yellow, it contained less moisture and was smaller in size than a modern carrot. Most likely, carrots were used as medicine and they took only its stem and leaves. It is unlikely that in ancient times they intensively fed on root vegetables. Over time, people made a genetic modification of carrots, only in this way it became what we used to see.
Today, white, yellow, orange, purple and even black carrot colors are preserved.
