Caesar's salad? No. Caesar's salad has nothing to do with Julius Caesar.
Julius Caesar was a talented military leader, a strong fighter, who needed good nutritions.
His favorite dish is a pig's neck, baked with apples.
A lot of people were involved to prepare this dish for him, but you can also cook it yourself, in the way even Caesar would like it.
You will need:
1000 gr. - Pork Neck
4 - apple, green and red
2 - Onion
100 gr. - Honey
1000 ml. - Red wine
100 ml. - vinegar
50 gr. ginger
4 - bay leaves
20 gr. - peas of pepper
Salt to taste.
Wash the meat, cut it across and put it in the pan with water.
Add 2 whole onions, 2 sliced sour apple, bay leaves, chopped ginger, pepper and salt to taste.
After 30 minutes of boiling, add the vinegar and red wine and cook for another 30 minutes.
Check with a fork, if the meat has become soft, then boiling is enough.
Fill with the remaining apple, which need to lay around our dish and put in the oven, heated to 180 degrees.
Approximately 300 ml. broth interfere with honey.
Every 20 minutes, water the dish with broth so that the liquid is distributed evenly.
The dish wil be ready approximately in 1-1.5 hours.
Decor the meat with apples and water it again with broth.
Enjoy!
This is how the great Julius Caesar loved to eat.
And Caesar salad was named in honor of Caesar Cardini in 1924.
