Lentil is one of the oldest cultivated plants. There are lots of species, but the most common are brown, red and Puy (black and green).  Red needs about 10-15 minutes to cook, so it is really easy to use. Brown is loved in America, people use it mostly in different soups.  The most popular is Puy - also known as French lentil. It has dark color and a bit spicy taste. Puy needs a bit more time to cook, but due to its elasticity, it keeps the shape, has a bright and spicy pepper flavor and is a component of many salads.

Lentils contain A, B and C vitamins. As well as fiber, protein, carbohydrates, flavonoids, folic acid. Microelements: potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, and phosphorus. 100 grams contains about 115 calories, although it should be noted that the product does not include fat.
