Everybody loves apple because it's delicious and available all year round. Apple - the member of the rose family has been cultivating 4000 years ago and is of Central Asian origin. There are about 10 000 varieties of apple, among which 200 has been cultivating in Georgia. Apple contains vitamins С, В1, В2, Р and E together with carotene, folic acid, iron, calcium, potassium, and manganese. Apple is a part of almost all types of diet, as being a wonderful product for those wishing to lose weight or detox. Please be advised that in a case of high stomach acidity it's recommended to eat sweet apples, while, in the condition of low stomach acidity - sour types of apple. Also, a good amount of iron makes the apple best product against anemia.
Apples are used in culinary on a daily basis. It tastes good in salads, cakes, desserts, beverages, meat dishes (as a filling). Puree, juices, compotes, kissels, dried fruit and Georgian flat cookies called Tklapi are all made of apple.
Apple vinegar is another healthy apple product. They even produce an apple wine in Europe, especially in France. Apple wine is almost as popular as grapes wine in France. Cider is a low-alcoholic (5-7%) beverage made of apple (or rarely - pear) fermentation. Cider is popular in Germany and Spain as well. Every autumn Frankfurt (Germany) hosts traditional Apple wine festival - Apfelweinfest. Another kind of apple wine is called Calvados however, its alcoholic consistency is quite high and goes up to almost 40% in spirits.
